The meeting participants discussed, among other things, possibilities of organising student internships and traineeships for biology and environmental science graduates at State Forests units. Director Jacek Chudy declared content-related support from foresters in the preparation of BA and MA theses, as well as assistance in collecting research materials in the field.
Cooperation with research groups operating at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection of the University of Lodz, whose members will be able to benefit from the experience of foresters and participate in projects conducted by the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Lodz and the forest district was another important topic of the discussion.
The Regional Directorate of State Forests in Lodz together with the University of Lodz have already been implementing joint research and educational projects, including "Black Storks Online" – a project enabling observation of the lives of these rare birds through online cameras, and conservation activities related to the European pond turtle protection programme in the Lodz Voivodeship.
The meeting has opened a new chapter in relations between the academic community and the State Forests, creating greater opportunities for students to acquire practical knowledge in the field of forestry.
