The Interdisciplinary Center for Urban Studies at the University of Łódź is a university-wide unit that has been operating since 2015.
The Center's tasks include conducting research on urban issues and promoting scientific and research work in this field, as well as undertaking educational and social activities, in particular:
conducting interdisciplinary research on the phenomenon of urbanity, urban culture, urban groups and social actors, urban economics, the legal framework and mechanisms of urban organisms, as well as their financing and management;
domestic and international cooperation – participation in scientific and research projects, exchanges and cooperation networks, organization of seminars, conferences, scientific and popular science meetings aimed at building a community of urban researchers in Łódź and Poland, as well as developing international contacts;
building cross-sector cooperation with local governments, non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, and businesses; promoting urban studies and the results of the Center's work in the academic community, the media, and among city residents, using not only typical scientific activities (conferences, publications) but also other activities in the city space;
popular science activities in cooperation with public institutions and the non-governmental sector;
