Słuchacze SJPDC UŁ z Ukrainy poznawali łódzkie potrawy

True culinary wonders were created during the workshop in Book&Cook OFF Piotrkowska in Lodz. Young people from Ukraine, who had to stop studying in their country, took part in the meeting – “Regional Cuisine of Lodz”. Thanks to the project “Solidarity with Ukraine” of the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAWA), they are now able to study at the University of Lodz Polish Language Centre for Foreigners.

The culinary workshop focused on the flavours of regional cuisine. Thanks to the support of the professionals, it was possible to cook dishes such as: zalewajka soup, dumplings with potato and smoked cottage cheese stuffing, stewed cabbage, and a dessert – milk soup with meringue and lemon curd. The workshop was also a great opportunity to talk about the Ukrainian cuisine.

The organisers would especially like to thank the chef – Joanna Banad, who supervised and helped everyone in preparing their dishes.

At the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine, the University of Lodz condemned unlawful Russian attack on this independent country and offered support to Ukrainian community connected with the university. It allowed us to create new student groups in the Polish Language Centre for Foreigners, and a new study programme at the Faculty of Philology.
