About us
The faculty members of the Department conduct diverse research focused on the broadly defined field of international economics. Their main scientific interests are concentrated in three key areas:
International Finance:
- Functioning of the international financial system and global financial markets from regulatory, institutional, and sectoral perspectives
- Financial market efficiency
- Conditions, directions, and determinants of international capital flows
- Central banks, monetary policy, and foreign exchange reserve management
- Development of collective investment institutions, including investment funds, hedge funds, ETFs, and pension funds
- Financial market integration, with particular emphasis on the European Union financial market
- Financialization of commodity markets
Corporate Finance:
- Planning corporate capital needs and shaping capital structure and levels
- Assessment of companies' economic and financial condition
- Impact of changes in management models on corporate efficiency
- Fundamental and technical analysis of publicly traded companies
- Predictive value of comprehensive income and earnings management
- Payout policies for shareholders, including aspects of behavioral finance
- Initial public offerings (IPOs) and investment strategies of private equity funds
Sustainable Development:
- Sustainable finance, particularly in the areas of green finance and socially responsible investments
- Sustainable development of financial markets
- Systemic changes in corporate management related to the need for socio-economic value creation
- Voluntary inclusion of environmental and social factors by companies in their business operations
