Marek Jan Wasiński is an Associate Professor of International Law at the University of Lodz (ORCID: 0000-0003-0109-9164).
His research spans critical and non-mainstream approaches to international law, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe as a liminal, post-imperial space (SWAIL – Second World Approaches to International Law), as well as international human rights, including practice and case law from Sub-Saharan Africa.
He has served as a Visiting Professor at Tbilisi State University (Georgia) and has taught at Kenyatta University (Nairobi, Kenya) and the Universidad de Granada (Spain). He is also an external examiner at North-West University (South Africa).
Marek has contributed as a rapporteur for International Organizations (OXIO) at Oxford University Press and collaborated with the Comissão de Justiça e Paz e Integridade da Criação (2014–2015). He provides expert opinions on the law of Sub-Saharan states before Polish courts.
Students under his supervision at the University of Lodz have achieved notable results in international law moots, including the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Beyond teaching, he co-created a 73-episode series for Polish Radio 3 (2015–2017) to promote public understanding of international law.
