ALEXIS DE TOCQUEVILLE CENTRE FOR POLITICAL AND LEGAL THOUGHT

The Alexis de Tocqueville Centre for Political and Legal Thought refers to the ideological and intellectual heritage of the author of "On Democracy in America". This heritage combines the conservative and liberal traditions dominating today with the Christian vision of Western identity and the republican ethos of civic participation. It leads political, systemic and legal reflection out of the analysis of concrete social relations and avoids constructing any apriori, abstract, rationalistic models of public life. He perceives the basic values of the contemporary world, such as freedom, equality, democracy, rule of law, efficiency and effectiveness of state power, civil society and self-governance, as far from being in mutual harmony.

Centre for Research on the Axiology of Legal Procedures

The Centre's goal is to constantly evaluate the axiological justification for the adopted or planned way of shaping procedural institutions occurring in civil proceedings, especially in periods of increased legislative changes which influence the transformation of the model of civil proceedings in Poland. The importance of the results of the research conducted at the Centre should be revealed primarily in the opinions prepared on the draft amendments to the Civil Procedure Code.
