Faculty of Andragogy and Social Gerontology

Area and direction of research

Employees of the Faculty of Andragogy and Social Gerontology realise scientific research primarily in the area of andragogy and social gerontology.

The Faculty substantially co-ordinates education in the realm of pedagogy in the field of adult education with coaching.

Detailed areas of research of the Faculty employees:

in the area of andragogy: multidimentionality in adult education, processes and situations of life-long learning; informal learning, new methods of educational work with adults, including coaching and mentoring; andragogical auxiology, preparing for adulthood; adulthood in disabled people; adulthood and learning in the era of modern information technologies;

in the area of social gerontology and geragogy: preparation for old age, learning in/of old age, activity of the elderly, professional activation of the elderly, education in old age, intergenerational learning, research into existential issues of the elderly, institutional and non-institutional support for the elderly;

in the area of research methodology: biographical approach in andragogy, studying educational biographies;

in the area of pedagogical monoseology: solitude/loneliness as pedagogical category, strategies of dealing with loneliness, learning in/of solitude/loneliness;

in the area of thanatopedagogy: thanatological education, taming the fear of death.
